Mortem is one of the first Brutal Death Metal bands in Russia. Their first album, 'Born By Evil', was released in 1991 and was thrash-inspired. The band went through several lineup changes and released their second album, 'Amputator', in 1995. The band's sound became more powerful and dense with the addition of a second guitarist, Alexander 'Helmet' Vasiliev.
